INCLINE VILLAGE, NV -- June 16, 2009 -- Frontline Systems is shipping Risk Solver Platform V9.5 for Microsoft Excel, the latest version of its integrated product featuring Monte Carlo simulation for risk analysis, optimization for resource allocation, and robust optimal decision-making under uncertainty.
New Parallel Algorithms for Multi-Core Processors
Risk Solver Platform V9.5 is the first software product to comprehensively exploit multi-core processors through parallel algorithms in Monte Carlo simulation, simulation optimization, global optimization, non-smooth optimization, and automatic differentiation, the heart of smooth nonlinear optimization. V9.5 achieves new levels of performance, well beyond competitors, on all of these compute-intensive methods. These means Frontline’s users can tackle even more challenging problems, and get results in less time.
Faster Solutions, Even on Single-Core Processors
Risk Solver Platform V9.5 also includes enhanced solution methods in its LP/Quadratic Solver that are easier to use, and often twice as fast as V9.0 on linear mixed-integer problems, and in its Evolutionary Solver, based on both genetic algorithms and nonlinear methods, that’s two to ten times faster than V9.0.
New Sensitivity Analysis and Decision Tree Features
Risk Solver Platform V9.5 also includes an array of new sensitivity analysis features, ranging from automatic identification of sensitivity parameters to new reports and charts, and a new facility for creating decision trees on the spreadsheet, to analyze multi-step decisions with uncertainty.
New License Manager, Help, Videos and Examples
Making startup and everyday tasks easier has been a major focus for Frontline Systems in V9.5. From a new license manager that makes software activation and network license administration easier than ever, to a greatly improved online Help system, to more accessible example models and links to video demos online, V9.5 ‘goes the extra mile’ for the analytical user who has many things to learn and do.
New Risk Solver Platform V9.5 for Education
Frontline Systems is also shipping new Risk Solver Platform V9.5 for Education, a special version licensed only for use in MBA and other university programs. Offered at a student price with problem size and performance restrictions compared to full Risk Solver Platform, it represents a genuine breakthrough in software capabilities available for teaching and learning optimization and simulation methods.
